On February 21, 2014, the organisation „Keystone Moldova” made the finals for the contest „We have the same rights. We want equal chances”. The greatest prize was collected by Lilia Zaharia, API special reporter.
The contest was developed throughout 15 September 2013 – 31 January 2014, aiming at encouraging journalists to document themselves, develop and publish/broadcast impact-bearing materials about the condition of disabled people in Republic of Moldova, managing, thus, to attract the attention of the public to their stories. The respective contest included three categories: print press, on-line and blogging, TV and Radio.
„I found no difficulty in writing about disabled persons, especially given the fact that it is several years already that API has been implementing a project for promoting and defending the rights of persons most frequently exposed to the discrimination phenomenon, and the disabled are included as well in this category. Mass-media have the goal to inform, as well as educate and teaching us to be tolerant”, L. Zaharia declares.
The criteria for assessing the candidates in the contest were the following: relevance of the material for the proposed topic, accuracy of information, originality of the perspective of addressing the subject, coverage of protagonists from a value-added point of view.
Within the same contest, Svetlana Corobceanu from „Jurnal de Chişinău” obtained the 2nd place at the category - print press, on-line and blogging.
Both journalists have been awarded with diplomas and pecuniary bonuses.
