The editorial staff at Stopfals.md, a portal that specializes in debunking falsehoods and serious speculation in the public space, is concerned about the increase in attacks against the portal and its fact-checking journalists.

 

Recently, Stopfals.md and its contributors have been targeted by attacks and intimidation attempts launched by pro-Russian politicians, (alleged) influencers, and other individuals with clear political affiliations. Posting threats, insults, and other offensive statements on social media or sending them via message to Stopfals.md contributors is a form of illegal and unacceptable pressure. As a rule, such attacks are accompanied by new falsehoods, biased conclusions, or the attribution of findings or statements that our portal did not make. At the same time, people are trying to spread the totally unjustified idea that Stopfals.md is affiliated with the current government and is imposing ‘online censorship’.

 

The Stopfals.md editorial staff categorically rejects these unfounded accusations. We view the coordinated attacks against us as a direct reaction to our constant exposure of liars and manipulators. We reserve the right to use all legal means necessary to defend the professional reputation of the portal and its contributors.

 

We reiterate that Stopfals.md is an independent fact-checking portal managed by the Association of Independent Press (API) with a dedicated editorial policy aimed at fighting disinformation and manipulation of information. Regardless of the pressure or attacks we face, we remain committed to our mission of debunking falsehoods and promoting critical thinking. We believe a well-informed society that can distinguish truth from lies is stronger and more resilient.
