Journalists for Diversity and Inclusion: Accountability and Engagement
Implementation period: February 2022 – April 2025
Financing organization: Government of Switzerland and Sweden
1. To strengthen media capacity to cover the issue of vulnerable and marginalized groups through practical workshops, Diversity and Inclusion Camps for journalists and Journalism students’ and monitoring with recommendations for correct and friendly journalistic approaches;
2. To stimulate the best journalistic practices to promote diversity and inclusion by organizing a contest among media professionals and prize awarding at a side event at the Media Forum;
3. To increase the public commitment of journalists to promote diversity and inclusion by completing the Journalist’s Code of Ethics with specific responsibilities in this field.
1. Developing a study of the training needs of media professionals in the field of diversity and media coverage of vulnerable groups and a thematic training package;
2. Organizing practical workshops and Diversity and Inclusion Camps for journalists and journalism students;
3. Monitoring media content on the coverage of topics targeting vulnerable and marginalized groups, public presentation of monitoring reports and the recommendations of the experts;
4. Conducting 3 editions of a national thematic contest of journalistic materials, with prizes awarded for the best journalistic practices in this field and Diversity/Media Inclusion Award;
5. Holding a campaign to raise awareness of journalists and newsrooms to make concrete commitments to promote diversity and inclusion, adapting their editorial policies and, in this regard, updating the Code of Ethics with specific provisions and establishing ethical responsibility of journalists to promote diversity and inclusion.

The best interest of the child and why it should be respected in all journalistic content was the topic of the training program "Ethical dilemmas in dealing with children's issues" organized by the Association of Independent Press (API) on February 7 and 8, with the participation of 19 journalists from several regional and national newsrooms. The event was organized as part of the "Active Citizens, Empowering Communities, Phase II" project, funded by the governments of Switzerland and Sweden.

"Mishto san" – this was the greeting of the 24 participants of the workshops on the responsible approach to issues concerning the Roma community from the perspective of the principles of peace journalism. The workshops took place in Chișinău (May 17) and Soroca (May 24). The events were organized under the project "Active Citizens, Thriving Communities, Phase II," funded by the Governments of Switzerland and Sweden, component "Journalists for Diversity and Inclusion: Accountability and Commitment."

Jurnaliștii sunt primii apărători ai drepturilor omului și ar trebui să abordeze empatic și etic materialele despre persoanele care suferă de maladii sociale și boli rare. Despre acest concept au discutat participanții celei de-a treia ediții a Școlii de vară „Diversitate și toleranță în mass-media”, desfășurată în perioada 31 iulie – 2 august 2024. Evenimentul a fost organizat în cadrul proiectului „Cetățeni Activi, Comunități Prospere, Faza II”, finanțat din resursele acordate de Guvernul Elveției și Suedia, componenta „Jurnaliștii pentru diversitate și incluziune: responsabilitate și angajament”.

Asociația Presei Independente (API) a premiat câștigătorii concursului național de materiale jurnalistice care promovează diversitatea și incluziunea socială, în cadrul unui side event al Forumului Mass-Media 2022 - „Jurnaliștii pentru diversitate și incluziune”. Concursul a fost organizat de API în cadrul proiectului „Cetățeni Activi, Comunități Prospere, Faza II", componenta „Jurnaliștii pentru diversitate și incluziune: responsabilitate și angajament", finanțat din resursele acordate de Agenția Elvețiană pentru Dezvoltare și Cooperare (SDC) și Suedia.
